Radioactivity Dynamics in River System

(2018)

How has the radioactive Cs concentration in river water changed with time? 【Recent trend (2018)】

In 2018, after 7 years had passed since the accident, the radioactive Cs concentration in rivers continued to decrease.

  • Results from a continuous survey from April, 2015 to March, 2018 showed that the radioactive Cs concentration in rivers continued to decrease even in 2018, after 7 years had passed since the accident.
  • The speed of decrease was approximately ten times the physical half-life of 137Cs.
