Radioactivity Dynamics in forests

(2016)

Is radioactive cesium in forests dispersed by wind? 【Airy places】

Even on forest roads where wind easily blow through, increase of air dose rates by the dispersion of radioactive cesium due to heavy rain or strong wind has not been observed.

An investigation in Kawamata Town, Fukushima Prefecture has revealed that even in forest roads where wind easily blow through, air dose rates did not increase after windy weather (maximum wind speed: 10 m/s, intermittently continued for few days).

In Kawamata Town, Fukushima Prefecture, heavy rain (precipitation amount: 65.4 mm in 2 hours) was observed, and muddy stream flowed in mountain roads. Nevertheless, air dose rates did not increase so much at that time.
