About human resource development
Nurturing of analytical engineers
The Okuma Analysis and Research Center is conducting trainings on handling method of analytical equipment and analysis of radioactive materials in collaboration with the other bases of JAEA (Nuclear Science Research Institute, Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, and Oarai Research and Development Institute). Further, we are trying to improve the skills for analytical technique through external training courses.

About technological development
Technological development towards the response to the analysis at the Laboratory-1
In the analytical works on radioactive wastes, there are subjects to be solved such as radiation exposure to analytical workers, which is caused by a human error in a complex procedure and long-time chemical-separation/purification. In order to solve these subjects, we are conducting technological developments such as the development of a nuclide analysis method by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and the development of automatic separation equipment.
