Analysis of ALPS treated water as third-party

Japanese

The third-party analysis is conducted along the following flow.

・ Sampling of ALPS treated water

・ Analysis at the Radioactive Material Analyses and Research Facility Laboratory-1 in the Okuma Analysis and Research Center

・ Reporting and publication of the analysis results to the government (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)

※: “Summary of the Immediate Measures for Disposal of ALPS-treated Water at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc.” by the Inter-Ministerial Council concerning the Continuous Implementation of the Basic Policy on Handling of ALPS Treated Water (August 24, 2021).

Latest results for the third-party analysis of ALPS treated water

NEW

Analysis results of the ALPS treated water collected from the K4-C tank group at February 29, 2024, 10:08 JST as follows:

● The confirmation that nuclides other than tritium have been purified below the regulatory limit by ALPS treatment.

The sum of ratios to the regulatory concentrations limits of nuclides other than tritium (29 nuclides*1) was 0.28 (less than 1), confirming that regulatory standard is satisfied.

For the other 39 nuclides*2, all targeted nuclides were confirmed not to significantly present.

● The confirmation of tritium concentration in ALPS treated water

Tritium concentration was confirmed to be 190,000 Bq/L*3

*1:The nuclides that should be confirmed to satisfy the discharge standards(below the regulatory standards), which defined in the implementation plan.

*2:From the view point of preventing the adverse impacts on reputation, the nuclides which voluntarily confirmed by TEPCO HD not to significantly present in ALPS-treated water.

*3:Dilute more than 100 times with seawater, so that the tritium concentration after seawater dilution is less than the maximum tritium concentration, 1,500 Bq/L.

Analysis results

Analysis results of the ALPS treated water collected from the K4-B tank group at December 22, 2023, 11:19 JST as follows:

● The confirmation that nuclides other than tritium have been purified below the regulatory limit by ALPS treatment.

The sum of ratios to the regulatory concentrations limits of nuclides other than tritium (29 nuclides*1) was 0.34 (less than 1), confirming that regulatory standard is satisfied.

For the other 39 nuclides*2, all targeted nuclides were confirmed not to significantly present.

● The confirmation of tritium concentration in ALPS treated water

Tritium concentration was confirmed to be 170,000 Bq/L*3
